I’m Daniel Long and I hope you enjoy my photos!
Explore my world this is an overview of my portfolio with links to each project page. Each project is a gallery of photos I have collected over the years, travelling around the world, always trying to get back to nature.
I decided to collect together some of my favourite images from the various galleries. It’s a mixture of landscape and wildlife photography that I have taken over the last few years. The best part is that this gallery will change with time as pictures that I once liked fall out of favour and new pictures take their place. Have a look through this gallery and then check out some of the subjects that capture you below!
The Cairngorms National Park is abundant with wild Scottish Forests and Lochs, from Loch Morlich to Loch Garten there is always something special and worthy of photographing. A wonderful habitat that I spend hours getting lost in.
The Moray Coast has many varied locations perfect for Landscape Photography. From interesting rocky, craggy cliffs and monoliths, like Bow Fiddle Rock to sandy beaches and dunes. Sometimes you wouldn’t believe that this is Scotland!
Loch Ness and the surrounding area is often called the Great Glen, this gallery encompasses Landscape images from around that area. A diverse area of mountains, rivers, forests and lochs. A little bit of everything…
While exploring and collecting landscape images, I often enjoy experimenting Intentional Camera Movement and other techniques to produce Abstract Landscape images.
Landscape images from the Mountains of Scotland. This gallery is growing as I spend more time in the mountains around the Cairngorms National Park. Often this gallery also includes photos from overnight camping trips…
This gallery features images from around Scotland. All the places I have visited outside of the Cairngorms National Park are here, including: the East Coast and Glen Coe.
An iconic upland species, the Mountain Hare lives throughout the Scottish Highlands. I have had many encounters and relish just observing their behaviour and capturing their personality in Portraits.
The Monarch of the Glen, majestic Red Deer are everywhere in Scotland. Throughout the Winter months these are one my primary species as they still have their antlers, which they lose in Spring to grow a new pair for the next Rutting season in Autumn. Always regal and beautiful!
The native Red Squirrel is luckily holding on well in Scotland and I have had many opportunities to photograph these small mammals throughout the Scottish Highlands. Here together are my images of these curious little creatures.
Over the summer of 2019 I spent a considerable time working on a project dedicated to capturing images of Ospreys diving. Luckily Rothiemurchus Fishery was close by and I visited many times over the season. I also had the opportunity to use James Shooter’s Osprey Perch where I watched an Osprey eat a fish on a branch, a fantastic experience!
Mainly birds: Ptarmigan, Crested Tit, Red Grouse, Ducks, Herons and many others all collected together. There are even Pine Martins in this gallery. There are many species of animals here in Scotland, and I am trying to photograph as much as possible. Enjoy!
Featuring the first part of my adventures on the Shetland Isles. A lot of wildlife images, especially puffins and gannets, with landscape images interspersed among them.
The second part of my adventure on the Shetland and Orkney Isles. Some more wildlife images of puffins and gannets, but with a lot more landscape photography thrown in!
In 2018 I went on my first photography tour on the Scottish island of Skye with Lightstalker Adventures. I had a magical time and can't wait to go back. Skye is famous for it’s landscapes and that is what we focused on.
The country of Chile is an overlooked jewel, it has such a varied environment from desert to fjords and glaciers. I have explored only a small portion of this beautiful country, thanks to my wonderful girlfriend. There is also a single photo from Lima...
This gallery has photos from France, Spain, Ireland and Greece, the cradle of Western civilisation. These images com from several different Holidays to the countries. I have some new photos from Athens to make their way into the gallery in the future.
This gallery has a few photos from Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary, I spent a short time in these places and would love to re-visit them for longer to explore their medieval streets. Hungary was a real surprise and I hope to complete a project focusing on the country in the future.
Italy is a country that calls to me often, it was the first country I visited alone, it was my first foreign language, it is where I met and fell in love with my girlfriend. Unfortunately my time there was when I was struggling with photography, so I did not explore as much as I wish I had.
Saint Lucia is a tropical paradise in the Caribbean, I managed to take a few shots while on holiday there. I took photos of the landscapes, and some wildlife that I came across.
My family has an apartment in a town in the Cairngorms National Park of Scotland, this has allowed me to explore there frequently.
Norway is one of my favourite countries in the world, it is stunningly beautiful and varied. I was fortunate enough to travel there in winter and the photos in this gallery are from that voyage.
I have been lucky enough to visit many different places in Canada and the United States of America, this selection of photos are the best ones from those journeys, although I hope in the future to visit again and get many more.
When I was young and first had my camera, I would spend my time experimenting with it. I took many pictures of flowers and mushrooms, as well as landscapes from my home county of Kent in the United Kingdom.
